Meet The Captain

IMG_4096.jpeg

Born and raised in Rhode Island, Captain Ian Leitao (USCG Certified), has always found home on the water. It began with summers on Cape Cod and the upper Narragansett Bay on his family's boat. The deep-seeded passion for the ocean stuck and continues to grow everyday. At seventeen, Ian joined the armed forces, which became his new calling in life.

In between 2006 & 2014, time was spent training and deploying to Afghanistan multiple times (unfortunately ZERO fishing there).  In 2019, time in the service came to an end. Full retired with a handful of accomplishments, plus a kitbag of knowledge, Ian returned home to Rhode Island and named Newport his new home.

Fishing, surfing, or just being at the beach, the water has always provided a therapy for him.  Ranger Charters aims to provide that same feeling to it's customers.
